What Seiko Emblem was
Emblem (エンブレム) was a Japanese-market dress line of the mid-to-late 1970s, catalogued beside Chariot and below the higher quartz tiers. Most Emblem pieces collectors meet today are quartz; mechanical automatics are uncommon. Reference 5606-5190 is that rarer automatic: soft-rectangular “TV” case, integrated bracelet geometry, and dial colours beyond silver — including this deep green brushed face. Not King Seiko or Grand Seiko — a JDM design line that borrowed a serious calibre for adventurous cases.
Calibre 5606 — the same base as Lord Matic
Under the dial sits Suwa’s Calibre 5606A — the same day-date automatic that powered the Lord Matic Weekdater from 1968: 23 jewels, 21,600 bph, hacking, hand-winding, bilingual Kanji/English quick-set day-date. The wider 56-series later informed higher-beat King Seiko and Grand Seiko automatics, but this Emblem runs the Lord Matic base, not a KS/GS hi-beat. Same heartbeat as LM; TV case and a green brushed dial Seiko almost never put on a round Lord Matic.
