The Yacht Club ref. 811 features the renowned caliber 8541, a product of 15 years of development from IWC's legendary 85x caliber family. It includes the groundbreaking 'Pellaton' winding system, designed by the esteemed Albert Pellaton, which offers superior shock resistance and durability. This IWC Yacht Club caliber competed with Rolex's full rotor winding movements and was among the best automatic movements of its time.

 

In the 1970s, esteemed designer Gerald Genta created his own interpretation of the IWC Yacht Club, infusing it with his signature style. Genta, who also designed iconic timepieces like the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, however these versions, being mostly quartz, aren’t nearly as popular as the originals. And therefore the original still worth collecting much more. 

Originally launched as a companion to the IWC Aquatimer, the Yacht Club was designed to appeal to a more casual audience, including beachgoers and boating enthusiasts.
