King Seiko 5626-7110: May 1974 A Later 56KS, White Dial with A Minor Small Dot, Case Restored to Nice Condition

A King Seiko 5626-7110 is a late automatic 56KS from May 1974: sharper-lug steel case, white dial, day and date, Caliber 5626. This example has a clean white dial with one small aging dot near 4 to 5 o’clock. The case is in good condition after minor polishing to restore the edges. It carries the KS logo crown. The caseback is plain — later references drop the KS stamp.

King Seiko is positioned beside Grand Seiko

King Seiko sat next to Grand Seiko as Seiko’s other top line in the early 1970s. Both targeted the Swiss market. The 56KS is the automatic generation. Caliber 5626 is 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, hand-wind and automatic, hacking seconds, and quick-set day and date in English and kanji. The dial is marked HI-BEAT. That is Seiko’s label. The rate is 8 beats a second, not the 36,000 of the earlier 45KS. The same 56 architecture, finished differently, also ran in 56GS and Lord Matic.

The later 7110 case

Reference 7110 uses the sharper-lug steel case of the 56KS, about 36 mm across, roughly 41–42 mm lug-to-lug, 18 mm lugs. Early 7110 examples are monobloc with a gold medallion or KS stamp. By 1974 the caseback on this reference is plain. The KS identity sits on the crown instead. On this watch the case has been lightly polished to bring the edges back. It is not an unpolished original, and it is not heavily reworked. The shape is still readable.

Condition of the 56 KS

The dial is original and clean. There is one small aging dot near 4 to 5 o’clock. That is the only mark. Day and date at 3 still work perfectly. The applied markers and the HI-BEAT print are intact. The watch case have been slightly polished to restore to a close to new mirror finish. I think the watch is a great everyday piece.
