Seiko has long been a pioneer in the world of horology, particularly renowned for its vintage Seiko chronographs. The journey began in 1964 with the introduction of the groundbreaking 5717/5719 movement—the first wrist chronograph developed in Japan for the mass market. This innovation set the stage for decades of excellence, driven by Seiko’s commitment to precision and innovation. In 1959, Seiko strategically split into Suwa Seikosha and Daini Seikosha, fostering internal competition that fueled remarkable advancements. By the late 1960s, Seiko had cemented its reputation with the self-winding Caliber 6138 and 6139, laying the foundation for future masterpieces like the Seiko 7018 series.
