At Samurai Vintage Co., every watch tells a story, and the Seiko Lord Matic 5606-8010 is no exception. With its striking cushion case and timeless design, this 1970s gem captures the spirit of Seiko’s golden era. A proud descendant of the legendary Lord Marvel line, this Lord Matic blends sophisticated craftsmanship with a bold aesthetic, making it a standout in our collection.
Introduced in 1968, the Lord Matic series built on the pioneering legacy of the Lord Marvel, which debuted Japan’s first high-beat movement, the 5740C, at 36,000 beats per hour. Positioned as a mid-to-upper-tier offering below King Seiko and Grand Seiko, the Lord Matic line combined accessibility with elegance, earning a devoted following. The 5606-8010, produced around 1970, exemplifies Seiko’s ambition to craft versatile timepieces that rivaled Swiss competitors while reflecting Japanese precision.
Powering the 5606-8010 is the Seiko 5606A movement, a 23-jewel automatic caliber renowned for its reliability. Beating at 21,600 bph, this movement features hacking, hand-winding, and a dual-language day-date display (English and Kanji), with a quickset mechanism that was innovative for its era. The 5606’s robust design, enhanced by Seiko’s Diashock protection, laid the foundation for higher-beat variants in King Seiko and Grand Seiko models, cementing its place in Seiko’s horological legacy.
The Lord Matic 5606-8010 stands out with its distinctive features:
Cushion Case Elegance: The 35mm stainless steel cushion case, with its soft curves and horizontal brushed finish, sets this model apart from the angular or tank-style cases of other Lord Matics. Its monobloc design, accessed via the front, enhances water resistance and gives the watch a sleek, modern profile that wears larger than its size suggests. The case’s subtle bevels and polished accents catch the light, adding depth and character.
Pristine Silver Dial: The starburst-textured silver dial, with applied “Seiko” and “LM” logos, radiates understated sophistication. The day-date window at 3 o’clock balances functionality with style, while the bold, polished hour markers ensure legibility.
Faceted Crystal: The tall, faceted acrylic crystal amplifies the dial’s sparkle, a hallmark of 1970s Seiko design that adds vintage flair.
Paired with a bespoke leather strap from our workshop, this Lord Matic is as comfortable at a formal event as it is in everyday wear, its 10mm thickness slipping effortlessly under a cuff.
We’re thrilled to offer this Lord Matic 5606-8010 in near-new-old-stock (NOS) condition, a testament to its careful stewardship:
A flawless silver starburst dial with no signs of aging, preserving its original brilliance.
A pristine cushion case with sharp, unpolished brushed finishes, reflecting Seiko’s meticulous craftsmanship.
An unscratched original acrylic crystal, enhancing the watch’s vintage allure.
A recently serviced 5606A movement, keeping excellent time and performing as it did over five decades ago.
