We are excited to present our first Citizen Crystal Date offering at Samurai Vintage, a timepiece that encapsulates the innovative spirit of Citizen in the mid to late 1960s. The Crystal:

In an era dominated by plexiglass glasses as crystals, the Citizen Crystal Date set a new standard by featuring toughened glass. This enhancement not only rendered the watch scratch-resistant but also gave it a modern, sleek appearance. The 'Crystal Date' name commemorates this distinctive feature, with 'Crystal' denoting the type of borosilicate glass, BK7, used.

Movement:

At the core of this Citizen Crystal Date is the automatic 21 jewels Citizen cal 5401 movement with automatic winding and also hand-winding capability, ticking at 18,000 bph. The 54 series movement is renowned for its excellent timekeeping, with some connoisseurs comparing its precision to the esteemed Citizen Chronomaster line.

The Case:

The Citizen Crystal Date case have demonstrated the design element Citizen wanted to add to the watch in 60s. We can spot multi dimension lug which will also later see in Seiko's early King Seiko models. The watch is in a clean 35.5mm case size, with its polished and mirrored finish. When paired with a vintage leather strap, the watch provides a solid and comfortable fit on the wrist.
