Vintage Watch | Seiko 6306 Turtle (JDM version)

The Seiko 6306-7001 Turtle is one of the example. Being a legendary dive watch that has captured the hearts of watch enthusiasts worldwide. Introduced in 1976, the Turtle was designed to withstand the rigors of professional diving while maintaining accuracy and legibility in the harshest conditions. It quickly became a favorite among divers and collectors, it is even the choice for US army during the war. The Seiko Turtle 6306 earning its nickname due to its unique cushion-shaped case and large, protruding crown guards that resembled a turtle's shell.

This particular Seiko 6306 Turtle is a rare find from Aug of 1977, with a dial that bears the Suwa logo below the 150M water resistance mark and "704 L T" at the bottom of the dial indicating it is an early example of the model. The 6306-7040 was produced until 1988 and is highly sought after by collectors, especially those who appreciate the early examples with unique dial variations like this one.

The matte black dial is in excellent condition, with perfectly developed patina on the hour plots and hand. The hour and minute hands having the same colour as the hour plots means that the hands have not been relumed and retain in all original condition.  The bezel of the watch is also nicely retained without heavy usage mark in its original condition. It rotates smoothly in both directions, making it perfect for divers who need to time their dives accurately.

The case is in mint condition, with the original finishes still visible. The watch features a quickset day and date function, the example we are offering is the JDM Japanese version as indicated by its reference of 6306. You will be able to see Japanese kanji day wheel on the watch, this makes the watch even more rare as most of the example in the market comes with a English day wheel. The mineral crystal is original and only have very minor usage mark given its heavy duty watch character.

The watch even comes with its original rubber strap from the 70s with original buckle. However, we recommend pairing this Seiko 6309 Turtle with our high-quality NATO or Premium Rubber straps, which will not only complement the vintage look of the watch but also provide maximum comfort and durability.
