Zenith announced the El Primero in January. The Swiss Chronomatic group (Heuer, Breitling, Hamilton-Buren) put the Caliber 11 on the market around August. Seiko’s 6139 reached Japanese shops on 21 May 1969, from a Suwa internal report. It was the first chronograph with a vertical clutch, paired with a column wheel — the layout still used on high-grade chronographs. It beats at 21,600. JDM pieces are usually the 21-jewel 6139B; some export versions are 17 jewels. Power reserve is about 45 hours. There is no running seconds: the central hand is the chronograph seconds. The subdial at 6 counts 30 minutes. Day and date quick-set by pushing the crown — light for date, deeper for day. The 6138, with a 12-hour counter, followed in 1970.

Colonel William Pogue wore a gold-dial 6139 on Skylab 4 in 1973. That watch is the one collectors call the Pogue. This 7050 is the same movement family, not that dial.

The Seiko5 SpeedTimer tells you the era of the watch

Early 6139-6000 Speedtimers put “SpeedTimer” under Seiko at 12 and a 5-shield with Sports/Water text at 9. Later cases, including the 70xx family, move the branding: Seiko 5 Sports logo at 12, orange Speedtimer script across the centre, tachymeter scale, day and date at 3. The 7050 is that later layout, Japan domestic, with a three-level black dial. The code near 6 on this one reads 7100T. Black is even, print is sharp, no spotting.

About thie Seiko 6139 7050 and its Condition

The watch case is in great condition.
